Vandy Schedule to Calendar

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Overview

Vandy Schedule to Calendar is a Chrome extension that helps Vanderbilt students import class schedule information from Vanderbilt's Search Classes page and synchronize selected class events with Google Calendar.

Information processed from Vanderbilt

When a user explicitly clicks the import function, the extension processes class schedule information visible on Vanderbilt's Search Classes page. This may include:

  • Course name and course number
  • Section
  • Enrollment or waitlist status
  • Meeting days
  • Meeting times
  • Classroom or building location
  • Instructor name
  • Class type
  • Vanderbilt term information

The extension accesses this information only when the user explicitly uses the import feature on the supported Vanderbilt Search Classes page.

Local storage

The extension may store the following information locally using Chrome extension storage:

  • Imported class selections
  • Customized event names
  • Event colors
  • Reminder preferences
  • Class locations and other manually edited details
  • Semester start and end dates
  • Academic break and no-class dates
  • Extension connection and configuration state

This local storage is used so that the user's settings and customizations can persist between uses.

This information is not sent to a developer-controlled backend server.

Vanderbilt academic calendar

The extension may retrieve publicly available academic-calendar information from Vanderbilt University's registrar website at registrar.vanderbilt.edu.

This information is used to automatically determine:

  • Semester class start dates
  • Semester class end dates
  • Major academic breaks, holidays, and no-class periods

Users may review and manually edit these dates before synchronizing their calendar.

Google account and Google Calendar access

Vandy Schedule to Calendar uses Google OAuth so that users can authorize access to Google Calendar.

Google Calendar access is used only to provide the extension's user-facing calendar synchronization features, including:

  • Creating class events requested by the user
  • Updating extension-managed class events
  • Comparing existing extension-managed events with the user's current schedule
  • Removing extension-managed events when the user explicitly deselects or removes a class

The extension requests only the Google Calendar permissions necessary to provide these features.

Google authentication information

Google authentication tokens are used only to authorize requests between the extension and Google Calendar.

Authentication information is not:

  • Sold
  • Used for advertising
  • Used to build marketing profiles
  • Used to determine creditworthiness
  • Used for lending decisions
  • Shared with unrelated third parties

The extension does not use a client secret inside the Chrome extension.

Google user data

Google user data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide the calendar synchronization functionality requested by the user.

Vandy Schedule to Calendar does not use Google user data for advertising, retargeting, personalized marketing, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.

Google user data is not sold to third parties.

Google user data is not used to train, develop, or improve generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data sharing

Schedule information is transferred to Google Calendar only when necessary to create or manage calendar events requested by the user.

The developer does not operate a backend service that receives or stores users' Vanderbilt class schedules.

The developer does not sell, rent, or broker user data.

Data is not transferred to advertising networks, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.

Human access to user data

The developer does not routinely access or review users' Vanderbilt schedule information or Google Calendar content.

Because the extension does not operate a developer-controlled backend server for schedule synchronization, users' imported schedule information is not sent to the developer for manual review.

Data retention and deletion

User preferences and imported schedule settings may remain in Chrome extension storage until the user resets the extension, clears extension data, or uninstalls the extension.

Calendar events created by the extension remain in the user's Google Calendar until they are removed by the user, removed through the extension's synchronization controls, or otherwise deleted in Google Calendar.

Users can disconnect Google Calendar access through the extension.

Security

Vandy Schedule to Calendar is designed to minimize data collection and uses Google OAuth for authorization.

The extension does not collect Google account passwords.

Children

Vandy Schedule to Calendar is intended as a utility for university students and is not specifically directed toward children under 13.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the extension's functionality or data practices change.

Any material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
